Welcome to the Battle of the Books. The Heartland Regional Library is organizing a Battle of the Books for the school districts that we service in the cities of Eldon, Tuscumbia, Iberia, St. Elizabeth, Vienna, and Belle. (Miller and Maries Counties)
Registered teams will read books from the Missouri Association of School Librarians nominated book lists. There will be three levels to which teams may enter (maximum of 10 people per team).
Students in 4th - 6th grade may enter at the Mark Twain level
Students in 6th - 8th may enter at the Truman level
Students in 9th - 12th may enter at the Gateway level
Teams will read all of the books from the list at their level. Mark Twain - 12 books, Truman - 12 books, Gateway - 15 books. If you have the maximum of 10 members on your team, each person can expect to read one or two books from the list. Teams with fewer members will more likely need to read more books from the list, per person. Your team will need to make sure all of the books on the list are read by at least one member on your team.
Trivia events will be held in early March to avoid bad weather and sports events and will be held at the St. Elizabeth School District. Contests will consist of 10 rounds. One question from each book on the list will be asked in each round. Mark Twain, scheduled for March 20, 2015 6:00 p.m., will have 10 rounds with 12 questions per round. Truman, scheduled for March 17, 2015 6:00 p.m., will have 10 rounds with 12 questions per round. Gateway, scheduled for March 10, 2015 6:00 p.m., will have 10 rounds with 15 questions per round.

Good luck and have fun reading!
